Honda Fit Floor Mat
Comments about Plasticolor Honda Floor Mat:I purchased this mat for my 2003 Honda CR-V. This mat is a thick-ish rubber mat that can be easily removed and hosed off. The Honda logo can’t be ignored. There are pin holes in the mat that would likely align with factory Honda pins near the seat, but the mat is not long enough to extend under the brake pedal and accelerator and also fit in the pins. I elected to ignore the pin holes and place the top of the mat under the pedals. But, it’s a fine mat that will protect carpet and ease regular cleaning.

With custom fits for a wide variety of makes and models, the WeatherTech All-Weather Mats are more than twice the price of basic, universal mats, but they offer more complete floor coverage. That said, we think the similarly priced Intro-Tech Hexomat is a better choice if you’re looking for a custom-fit floor mat. Like the Hexomats, the WeatherTech All-Weather floor mats provide a snug and more precise fit than universal mats, and they use the factory floor-mat mounting points on the driver’s side for a safer and more secure fit. The All-Weather Floor Mats are made of the same soft, non-skid flexible resin used in WeatherTech’s universal AVM floor mats. They’re thicker and cushier underfoot than other floor mats, the Hexomats, or even WeatherTech’s own FloorLiners. That’s nice, but not entirely a good thing, because we found the sticky surface is harder to clean than any other mat or liner we tested, and it acts like a magnet for animal hair. We also found that the thickness of the All-Weather Floor Mats made them less able to conform to the floor contours of the 2004 Toyota RAV4 we ordered them for, and that the front passenger side mat was too wide and needed to be trimmed—in spite of it being a claimed custom fit. Our Hexomats fit just fine.

If you want a custom-fit floor mat but don’t want to spend the money on a premium liner, we recommend the Intro-Tech Hexomat, which splits the difference in cost and coverage between a universal mat and a model-specific liner. The Hexomat lacks the higher side walls of liners like our top pick, but it does provide wall-to-wall footwell coverage and a design that helps contain spills. Our Hexomats had a less cushy feel than a similar but thicker WeatherTech product we tested—the similarly priced All-Weather Floor Mat—but we found they were a better fit for the 2004 Toyota RAV4 we used for testing. They completely covered the footwells without any trimming, and their thinner design helped them better conform to bumps in the floor. They were also easier to clean than the grippy surface of the WeatherTech mats. (It’s important to note that the WeatherTech All-Weather Mats are made of an entirely different material than our top pick, the WeatherTech FloorLiners, and the mats are thicker and more difficult to clean.)

Squarely priced between premium liners and budget-priced universal floor mats, Hexomat model-specific floor mats from Intro-Tech provide the custom fit of a liner—providing wall-to-wall coverage to guard and against spills and dirt—and the ability to trap small amounts of liquid for about half the cost. Their fit rivals that of a set of premium liners, like WeatherTech’s or Husky’s, and they include holes in the driver’s mat that correspond with factory mounting points. This helps them stay in place far better than any universal mat, an important safety feature. We were also impressed with the ease of installation, removal, and cleaning, and we found the compartmentalized design did a good job of helping to contain spills. Hexomat even offers fits for an impressive 11,000 different models; that’s not as many as WeatherTech offers, but it’s enough to fit most cars. That said, Hexomat still can’t trap big spills or protect carpets as well as our top pick or any of the other liners because it is a flat mat and lacks the higher sidewalls of a liner.

The most secure fit comes from products that have holes that correspond with factory-mat mounting points. We found that the number and size of those nibs, along with the shape, weight and stickiness of the material used to make the mats, can make a big difference in how well they stay put. But the most secure fit comes from products that have holes that correspond with factory-mat mounting points for the driver’s mat or include their own.
Well, I've only had these a couple of weeks, but so far they are far better than the Honda all weather mats that I bought at the time I bought my 2016 Honda Fit. The front passenger side did not cover nearly the whole floor and was constantly being pushed forward by the front passenger. These fit like a glove and they don't budge! So far I'm thrilled. I guess time will be the real test but right now I'm very happy with the purchase.
For the best combination of a snug fit and protection from spills for the widest assortment of vehicles, there’s no beating WeatherTech FloorLiners. Their high sides, ease of installation and removal, and ability to channel fluids, as well as the wide range of vehicles they cover, gives them the edge over any other liners we compared. Another good choice is our runner-up Husky WeatherBeater All-Weather Floor Liners. They lack WeatherTech’s separate fluid reservoir and channeling system to keep your feet drier, but Husky’s lifetime warranty is better than WeatherTech’s three-year warranty. If you don’t want or need the higher sidewalls of a full floor liner to contain spills but still want a custom fit, try Hexomat floor mats from Intro-Tech. But if all you’re looking for is an inexpensive mat to dress up an older car with stained and worn carpets, we’d go with the Motor Trend Clean Rubber Series Odorless Floor Mats.

Any universal mat is going to be a compromise. But any universal mat is going to be a compromise. They are rarely a perfect fit for any vehicle right out of the box, although most rubber mats can be trimmed using scissors. Even some of the least expensive, including the Custom Auto Crews Heavy Duty 4pc mats and OxGord 4pc Heavy Duty Rubber Floor Mats, include cut lines for this purpose.
The one-size-fits-all bargain version of WeatherTech’s All-Weather Mats, the AVM mats, have a similar high-quality look and feel. Unfortunately, they also have the same grippy surface. It can feel nice underfoot, but that surface makes the mats harder to clean. A unique MatGrip anchoring system for the driver’s mat screws into the carpet beneath and helps keep the mat in place. Thicker and heavier than all other universal mats we tried, AVMs don’t conform to floor irregularities as well as the Motor Trend CleanRubber mats or even cheap mats from BDK, Custom Auto Crews, and OxGord. Their design includes trim lines for a more custom fit, and the AVMs are easy to trim with scissors.
