SPRING LAKE, MI —  In a move to “harness greater manufacturing efficiency,” izzy+ will shutter its Florence, AL-based ABCO office furniture manufacturing facility by the summer of 2015. The current production at the Florence plant will be shifted to izzy+ existing facilities in Middlebury, IN, and Spring Lake, along with select suppliers. Officials said the move will allow the company to become more efficient in meeting its customer goals. The shift of work to the existing sites will allow the company to hire for new positions at those locations, officials said The plant closure will eliminate about 200 office and manufacturing positions at the Alabama site. Company officials said they will offer services to help the employees find new positions. The company will sell the plant site once the transition is completed. The announcement of the plant closing comes a little more than two months after the HON Co. announced it would close its manufacturing facility in Florence, laying off 190 workers in the process.
